GIFT VOUCHERS – Pewter Casting and Working Techniques Workshops.
Choose from one of the 6 options available. All workshops are run at Mettle Studios in Angmering, West Sussex.
1 – PEWTER CUTTLEFISH CASTING TASTER WORKSHOP 10-1pm. Make your own pewter pendant or keyring, also Christmas decorartion options available.Â
No experience necessary, Fleur will guide you through the process step by step. Materials included.
Using the traditional pewter cuttlefish casting technique you will carve your design into a cuttlefish bone and then use this as a mould to pour the molten pewter into. Finally you will clean up your casting and put it onto a pendant, keyring or hang on your tree. Most people make two – three pieces per session.
2 – MAKE YOUR OWN TEALIGHT HOLDER – 1 day pewter casting workshop were you will make a pewter tealight, going through various processes such as: Casting, mouldmaking, soldering, cutting the pewter and polishing. There will only be two people on the course so a lot can be achieved in a day and you will get to go home with a tealight holder ready to display and use with pride! This one day workshop is suitable for beginners or experienced metalworkers.
3 – MAKE YOUR OWN PENDANT. This workshop goes through some of the basic principles of casting in pewter, initially carving a wax pattern of a pendant and then using this to make a two-part rubber mould.
You will then pour pewter into your mould and cast a pewter piece, which will be cleaned up and polished ready to wear.
It is not necessary to have any experience either working with metal or carving the wax as Fleur will guide you through the whole process step by step.
This is a great opportunity to experience working with pewter and creating your own unique piece. Materials included.
4 – A ONE TO ONE WORKSHOP gives the option to learn more about specific areas relevant to the persons own work or a project. Full day 10-5pm. (Materials will be extra and added on the day if you would like to cover the cost of this too please contact Fleur)
Fleur will contact you / voucher recipient prior to doing the day to discuss what you would like to achieve so she can make a plan and have everything ready to go straight into the project. One day 1 to 1 price £280.
5 – HALF DAY ONE TO ONE WORKSHOP as above but will run from 10-1pm for shorter projects and advice. Price £150
6 – A TWO DAY ONE TO ONE WORKSHOP, as in the one day it is a specific project planning before so as much as possible can be achieved.
When booking 2 days they do not need to be booked in a block, sometimes after doing a day time is needed to think how to proceed and a few days or even weeks in-between can help. The second day can then be booked when it is convenient.
A two day workshop is £540. Materials will be charged for this can be discussed for approximate costs once there has been a discussion about what the recipient would like to make.
