There is something captivating about honesty. As the papery outer layers disappear, they reveal delicate translucent seedheads that catch and filter the light, becoming even more beautiful as the seasons change. Hidden Honesty celebrates this quiet transformation, preserving a fleeting moment in nature within a contemporary sculptural form.
At its centre, naturally dried honesty seedheads are surrounded by preserved fern fronds and individually sculpted pewter botanicals. The warm organic tones of the natural materials sit alongside the cool, reflective pewter, creating a subtle dialogue between fragility and permanence. Rather than competing with one another, the botanicals appear to exist in harmony, gently transitioning between the organic and the sculpted.
Every sculpture is individually composed by hand in my Sussex studio, allowing the natural forms to dictate the final arrangement. No two pieces are ever identical, making each artwork completely unique.
Designed to be enjoyed in different ways, Hidden Honesty can be displayed as a freestanding sculpture on a console table, shelf or sideboard, where its layered composition can be appreciated from every angle. Alternatively, it can be purchased with a hand-turned wooden bowl, finished in crisp white, allowing the sculpture to become a striking wall-mounted artwork using the concealed keyhole fixing on the reverse. Installation requires only a single screw.

About the Botanicals
The preserved ferns used within this sculpture have undergone a specialist preservation process in which their natural moisture is replaced with a glycerine-based solution. This allows them to retain their softness, flexibility and natural character rather than becoming brittle or dry.
The honesty seedheads are naturally dried and have been carefully selected for their delicate, translucent quality, creating a beautiful contrast to the preserved botanicals and sculpted pewter elements.
With appropriate indoor care, the preserved botanicals are intended to remain beautiful indefinitely, retaining their softness and flexibility thanks to the specialist glycerine preservation process. Each sculpture is supplied with a soft brush for the gentle removal of dust. Displaying the work away from prolonged direct sunlight and excessive humidity will help preserve the natural materials so the sculpture can be enjoyed for generations.
