Silent Flourish captures a fleeting moment in nature, preserving the quiet beauty of woodland botanicals within a sculptural pewter vessel.
Inspired by the stillness of the forest floor, the piece combines carefully preserved ferns and leaves with individually cast pewter botanical elements. Each natural specimen is thoughtfully arranged before molten pewter is poured around selected areas, creating permanent impressions that sit alongside the preserved foliage. The contrast between the warm organic tones of the botanicals and the cool, reflective pewter celebrates both the delicacy and resilience found in nature.
The elegant vessel has been hand raised from sheet pewter using traditional silversmithing techniques. Its flowing organic form appears to lift effortlessly from the rounded base, creating a sense of movement and quiet growth, as though the woodland is gently flourishing from within.
Designed as a statement sculptural piece, Silent Flourish brings a calm contemporary presence to a hallway console, sideboard, pedestal, gallery setting or open living space. From a distance, the sculpture presents a graceful silhouette, while closer viewing reveals intricate botanical details and the interplay between preserved natural forms and cast pewter leaves.
Each sculpture is individually handmade in my Sussex studio, ensuring every piece is unique. Natural variations in the preserved botanicals mean no two sculptures will ever be identical, making each one a truly one-of-a-kind artwork.

About the Botanicals
The preserved leaves, ivy and ferns used within this sculpture have undergone a specialist preservation process in which their natural moisture is replaced with a glycerine-based solution. This allows the botanicals to retain their softness, flexibility and natural character rather than becoming brittle or dry.
The honesty seed heads are naturally dried and have been carefully selected for their delicate, translucent quality, providing a beautiful contrast to the preserved foliage and sculpted pewter elements.
With appropriate indoor care, the preserved botanicals are intended to remain beautiful indefinitely, retaining their softness and flexibility thanks to the specialist glycerine preservation process. Each sculpture is supplied with a soft brush for the gentle removal of dust. Displaying the work away from prolonged direct sunlight and excessive humidity will help preserve the natural materials so the sculpture can be enjoyed for generations.
